Wire

Wire plays a central role in the honing and the external grinding process on Schläfli machines. It is used as tool and guiding device and can be produced from different materials. We'll advise you gladly and help you finding the ideal wire for your application.

Honing wire

The wire used for the honing process is a high-precision and durable tool.The wire is divided into three different sections:

  • the cylindrical entering diameter (D1)
  • the conical part to enlarge the bore
  • the cylindrical final diameter (D2) to reach the desired finished size and surface quality

The honing wire final diameter ranges from 0.06 up to 2.0 mm in 0.001 mm steps. (Other dimensions on request.)

The honing wire is produced from different raw material according to the application it is used for.

Threading wire

The threading wire is a cylindrical wire. It has to be slightly smaller than the raw bore of the workpiece. Threaded on the wire the workpiece is positioned in the clamping system (arbor).

The threading wire diameter ranges from 0.06 up to 2.0 mm in 0.001 mm steps. (Other dimensions on request.) It can be provided coiled up loose or straightened.

External grinding

The cylindrical threading wire diameter ranges from 0.06 up to 2.0 mm in 0.001 mm steps. (Other dimensions on request.) It can be provided coiled up loose or straightened.
